Preparing the Future

Sustainability/LEED

Now, more than ever, sustainability and the need to protect our environment is a business driver in almost every industry. Structure Tone has been a leader in the field of sustainable construction and energy conservation.

As a member of the USGBC, Structure Tone assists its clients in achieving their targeted levels of LEED certification, or just good sustainable practices, by guiding them through design considerations, construction materials selection, building systems and operational procedures. With over 200 LEED accredited professionals on staff, Structure Tone assists in ensuring that your project achieves the targeted certification in the most economically efficient and expeditious route possible.

Sustainable construction practices provide a variety of materials, systems and design ideas that can improve water and energy efficiency, reduce the environmental impact of construction and improve the quality of life for tenants. Not every option is the right fit for every project, but owners and tenants can incorporate select systems and materials that fit with both their budget and overall goals—producing a building or space that is more environmentally friendly both in sustainability and construction practice.

Surprisingly, some of the most commonly used construction materials are inherently environmentally sound. For instance, acoustical tiles are often composed of over 60% recycled material and many interior finishes contain aluminum recycled material. The ultimate goal is always an environmentally responsible construction site that eliminates excess waste and minimizes site impacts.

We recognize that sustainable construction requires a detailed understanding of:

our client’s goals and objectives
the connection between a building or space’s design and its operation and maintenance after completion
good communication between all members of the design and construction team

We work to understand our client’s goals and facilitate close collaboration and communication to ensure that all opportunities are maximized. There are inherent challenges associated with the implementation of green building techniques in construction and members of our staff have successfully met these challenges on prior projects.

Structure Tone is committed to demonstrating industry leadership and social responsibility by incorporating the principle of sustainability into our everyday work practices. For a project incorporating LEED components we document all debris: what can or will be recycled, what can be reused and what needs to be taken to a landfill. Also, we are conscious of the materials being used selecting durable, rapidly-renewable, or recycled products.

Structure Tone has worked throughout the United States on projects ranging from environmentally sound through to LEED Platinum certification. We work to consistently meet our clients and industry, requirements to build LEED certified or sustainable projects. As good corporate citizens, Structure Tone has accepted the challenge by incorporating the principles of sustainability into our everyday work practices, thereby creating greater value for our clients and communities.
