Jenn Taranto of Structure Tone Elected to USGBC Massachusetts

(February 15, 2009) - Jennifer Taranto was elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Leadership Council and the Membership Committee Chair of the USGBC (United States Green Buildings Council) Massachusetts Membership Forum. The Forum is the current USGBC Affiliate of the state of Massachusetts.

The Leadership Council acts as a Board of Directors. Jennifer’s responsibilities as a Leadership Councilor include setting policy for the organization, monitoring and determining the organization's activities and budget, serving as a public figure for the USGBC Forum, and providing oversight for the transition of the Affiliate to full recognition as a USGBC Chapter by the beginning of 2010. Jenn is also the Chair of the Membership Committee and is responsible for recruiting and retaining members.

One of the major accomplishments of the Forum over the past two years has included providing a member-based community volunteer group with opportunities to participate in USGBC and other green building educational, technical and advocacy activities while networking with industry professionals and lay people.

Jenn is a project manager at Structure Tone who has managed the LEED component of several projects including an Platinum project in London for Bloomberg, a Gold project in Washington DC for Fidelity and several LEED certified projects in Boston. Jenn has also been leading the sustainable initiative within Structure Tone to provide staff training, as well as conduct seminars to educate clients and subcontractors. Jenn has a BS in construction engineering and management from North Carolina State University and is working on a Master's Sustainable Design Certificate from Boston Architectural College.
