Day Pitney LLP
Hartford, CT

In the center of Hartford Connecticut’s business district, Day Pitney occupies 81,000sf on the fifth, sixth and seventh floors of the eight-story building. Our firm provided construction management services for the build-out of three floors simultaneously, in the un-occupied space. Work was performed on nights and weekends to achieve the aggressive schedule. The project required extensive coordination with the base building management for deliveries and scheduling.

Quality Construction and Custom Finishes

In addition to meeting the aggressive construction schedule for Day Pitney, our staff worked closely with the architect to provide quality construction and the high-end look Day Pitney wanted to achieve. Both the quality construction and the look of the space were tackled from the inside out. A main component of the project scope was creating a polished look along with updating mechanical and electrical systems.

The elevator lobbies and reception area were finished with high-end millwork, floor tile and glass doors. Several A/V conference rooms are placed throughout the space and have rear projection systems and teleconferencing capabilities. The floor plan has perimeter offices with glass fronts and cherry doors, surrounding the open office space plan with landscape partitions. The 'working floors' feature a business center, mail room, copy center, and training and file rooms.

On the inside, the existing 2,000sf data center required mechanical and electrical upgrades. The data center required installation of new racks, raised floor tiles, as well as the checking and commissioning the A/C units and Liebert systems, and UPS. The high-density file room required structural steel under the slab and raised flooring. The new library required structural steel reinforcements, and a platform floor to accommodate the weight of the shelving and books.

Successful Collaboration

A 400-attorney practice with offices additional offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey and Washington, DC, Day Pitney LLP selected our firm to serve as construction partners for work in six offices in Connecticut and New York City. A key differentiator was our ability to work seamlessly in its offices, minimizing disruptions to professional staff, understanding its service delivery needs and ensuring smooth transitions during all phases of work. For example, at Day Pitney’s One Canterbury Green location in Stamford, our staff remained flexible to the firm’s needs, resulting in a three-phase approach that included moving staff to swing space.

We are currently working in Day Pitney offices in West Hartford, Greenwich and New York City. From day one, our focus has been on the delicate nature of working in occupied space, respecting the priorities of Day Pitney—namely consistent customer interaction and service and no disruptions to daily work.
